September was a busy month, filled with soccer and settling into the school year.
In honor of 9/11, my school joined a city-wide parade of vehicles that snaked past all of the Glendale schools. Sadly, I think most of the kids were just excited to get out of class and cheer as some cars and trucks drove by. I suppose appreciation comes with education and maturity.
Soccer season continued with the reveal of Ashlynn's team's banner. It cracked me up!
Lydia came to one game to cheer on her two best friends. Fizzy and Ashlynn.
Carter's banner didn't amuse me as much. What did was the name of his team that morphed from Golden Knights to Knights of the Golden Waffles.
We celebrated Oktober the proper way, in September. It's true!
We had the Mountains over and ate German food while listening to polka music and beer drinking songs. Prost!
More soccer. I'm thankful for Ashlynn being on Grace Z.'s team and getting to enjoy the photos her mom, Michelle, takes.
Carter and Josiah celebrated their friend Mackenzie's 8th birthday with karaoke and swimming on a super hot day.
He's fake singing in this photo. He was afraid to be loud on the mic.
He did do some dancing.
While the boys were at the party, the girls hung out and swam at the Lees'.
This year we celebrated Ashlynn's birthday a different way. We usually have a friend party but decided to instead go away and bring a friend. We used some of Eric's dad's unused Marriott timeshare points and stayed in Newport for the weekend before Ashlynn's birthday. Ashlynn brought Lydia along for one night. The girls had a blast together and were pretty good about including Carter in some of it.
Lydia needed to read for English class, so Ashlynn read it aloud to her.
Sharing the ocean view with my fellow early riser.
Before heading to to pool, we explored some of the resort grounds.
I love this cheesy shot of the girls.
Carter is pretty cute too!
Pool time!
Lydia's mom, sister and brother came down and joined us for a birthday celebration dinner. They brought the cake, which was so cute!
The next morning the four of us enjoyed the view during breakfast and then drove north a bit to a beach in Corona del Mar where we hung out.
Almost 11!
We picked up lunch on Balboa Island so we could get to the main event, the Balboa ice cream bar for Eric.
September also brought new growing friendships for Carter. It's so great to see Carter find some nice friends who like to play like he does. Here he is with his buddy, Tatem. Yay for new friends!
And that's how September went!
