On a hot, late July afternoon we had the long- awaited (by Ashlynn) water balloon fight at my parents' house. My mom had purchased some water balloons earlier in the month, promising a fun day... and we heard about it from Ashlynn all the time. "Is it the weekend? Nana said we can have the water balloon fight on the weekend when Papa doesn't have to work..." She finally got her wish.

We quickly discovered that the water balloons didn't actually explode when they hit people; They just bounced off and popped when they hit the grass. So, we had to improvise and squish them on top of people's heads until they popped.. (Not quite as fun, but Ashlynn didn't know the difference.)

There was also some running through the sprinkler. (Even David in his not so summery clothes.)

Carter did NOT like the water balloons or the sprinklers, but he did like being held until he got the courage to go over and explore the water fountain.

After enough fun in the back yard we went out front and tossed some more water balloons and a brief squirt gun fight.

David's dog, Tess, liked attacking the water.

Good times!
