May Happenings

Phew!  Is May more than half over?  Gee this month always flies by!

Beware: this post is very random

A fun event at the beginning of the month was Ashlynn's friend Julianna's 7th birthday party at Cake Mamas.  It was so fun to celebrate yet another birthday with the Mountain family.
Here's the cute birthday girl:
My tactile girl was so excited to decorate her own cake.
My dad left for a prayer conference in Indonesia on Friday the 11th, and my mom invited the kids over for a slumber party that night.  Eric and I surprised them by meeting them at the El Monte Airport for breakfast the next morning.
Mother's Day was a nice day.  The kids could hardly wait to give me the gifts they made at school.
Carter gave me a real working watch that he decorated with markers.
Ashlynn gave me a little book of cute pages (see below) and a clay heart.

I love that Carter wears crazy stuff like this.
Here are the contents of Ashlynn's book:
On Mother's Day afternoon, Gretchen and I met at the girls' school to decorate their classroom door in celebration of Teacher Appreciation Week.  Wasn't it pretty?
On our drive home we drove behind a deer.  I love Monrovia!
On Tuesday morning, a peacock showed up on our front lawn.  We knew of various recent peacock spottings in the area, but it was Pippa who first spotted this guy in our yard.
Ashlynn had her last dance class for the spring session.
On Thursday, Carter and I went on a walk with Pippa.  At first he insisted on wearing rain boots.  Fortunately, it only took walking past a few houses for him to admit they weren't the best walking shoes and we were able to switch them out before heading out on a decent walk.
Thursday was also flower day for teacher appreciation week.  Aren't kids with flowers sweet?
Carter wanted to give Mrs. Casey a flower too.
Gretchen did a beautiful job arranging the flowers the kids brought in a very cute pitcher.
So those are the random highlights of our past couple of weeks.
