We had a fun Saturday!
We began the day with a visit to Temple City's Camellia Parade.
On Friday, it looked like the parade would be rained out, which was VERY disappointing to Ashlynn. But, Saturday morning had enough sunshine that the parade went on!
We parked at my parents' house, which is on the street where the parade ends and the band buses park (which is very exciting!), and we walked to the parade.

Waiting for the parade to reach us

Yippee! No rain!

We loved the bands! Carter did some dancing.

One of the fantastic floats. Yes, they are nothing compared to Rose Parade floats, but based on the rule that they must use only camellias (flowers, leaves, and dead flowers), they do a pretty good job.

My dad & my girl

Goofballs!

The clouds were threatening, but no rain!

In the evening, after watching two Food Network shows about sandwich places, we decided to have a spontaneous dinner outing to Philippe's in downtown LA. I told the kids we were going on an "adventure", so the whole evening Carter talked about us being on our "venture".

After dinner we took a little drive through downtown to see "tall, tall buildings".

Good times!

That was a fun and adventurous day! So glad it stayed dry for the parade. Philippe's reminds me of when we used to go with my dad as a kid (he worked in LA).. Did you all like it? Looked sort of busy in the background, as always, a sign of a good place! We need to get a date for dinner at our house soon. I'm missing the Vales!
