On January 2nd we joined our friends the Mountains at the Rose Parade. Bo's parents' house is on Orange Grove, so they have a great view of the floats lining up at the start of the parade. I think this is the third year we've gone. Each year it is a slightly different experience as our kids get older.
We took the Gold Line train into Pasadena. The ride, plus a B2 bomber and many blimp spottings, made Carter a happy guy.
We checked out the floats first.
We then hung out with our friends and watched the floats pass by.
After the parade was the Occupy people. It was an impressive sized group and seemed to be supporting more causes than the 99% stuff.
The octopus made of plastic shopping bags was pretty impressive.
Nevertheless, we enjoyed the morning!
Carter joined the girls for a game. He didn't care that he was the only boy.
This photo cracks me up. It looks like something that was intended to be artistic but just wasn't. The truth is, Carter was sitting on the statue while holding an orange and the light was nice so I took a shot.
Aren't they precious? They're playing Angry Birds. : )
The girls made a little mischief in the fountain. Does it sink or does it float? How much of a splash will it make?
Finally, we walked back to the train station for the ride home.
That's what Ashlynn's smile looks like when she's got super chapped lips. Julianna looks cute!
The boys
It was a fun start to 2012 with our dear friends.
