The Fourth (and Fifth) of July

This year, because the 4th of July was on a Sunday, we got to celebrate Independence Day for 2 days (since Sierra Madre's parade was on the 5th). In some ways I was grateful, because things weren't so crazy for that one day, but then two days of celebrating were pretty exhausting too! On the afternoon of the 4th, we swam and had a BBQ at the Mo's house in Monrovia. As it started getting dark, we met our friends, Grace and Thomas, in Old Town Monrovia for the fireworks display near Library Park. The next morning we headed over to Sierra Madre for their wacky parade (that didn't seem quite as wacky this year... bummer). Fun!
Library Park and Myrtle were PACKED for the fireworks show. They estimated 8,000 people!Ashlynn photographed Thomas and Grace (and the portable potties, the trash can, and a lady sitting on cardboard)Ashlynn's favorite part of the parade... the belly dancer (who must be like 50 years old and isn't lookin' so fit). Ashlynn said, "Wow, she looks like Ariel this year," because of the colors of her outfit.

Hope you had a great Fourth (and Fifth) of July too!

We were in Monrovia for the fireworks too and I thought they were great. I love Ashlyn's 4th dress . . .
