A Kid-Free Weekend

Eric and I had a fun weekend! We joined Katie and Bo on a little kid-free weekend in Ventura.

A while back we were chatting about taking a trip together to Europe (or someplace like that), but realized that travel like that is probably a few years out. We decided to start small with a weekend away... and ended up going to Ventura.

We had a blast!

After a leisurely drive, we went to the marina for lunch, walked on the beach, got attacked by pincher bugs, and then checked into our hotel, the Pierpont Inn.
Later in the afternoon we explored downtown Ventura. There are a bunch of cute shops and restaurants and.... a California Mission!!! Katie and Bo got to tour Mission San Buenaventura with TWO fourth grade teachers. (They were great sports.)
Father Serra
After getting dressed up, we enjoyed a long, fun, and delicious dinner at Cafe Fiore. We enjoyed great conversation and some good laughs while dining on numerous courses (something we could never do if the kiddos were with us).
The next morning there was a beautiful sunrise view of Ventura's marina from our room.
Aren't the street signs cute?
We also took a stroll on the pier.
We had a fun time with our friends and look forward to future travels together!
