Hey Big Spender!

Ashlynn has been saving for an American Girl doll for a reallllly long time.  She has saved birthday and Christmas money for years, as well as a big portion of her "allowance".

To explain, Ashlynn has a Melissa and Doug responsibility chart (see above).  She earns smiley face magnets for doing various jobs (getting dressed 20 minutes before we need to leave for school, helping with household chores, like sorting and loading the laundry), for reading at least 30 minutes and for wearing her eye patch everyday.  For every smiley face she earns, she get a dime.   We keep track of how many she earns and then she cashes out every few months (it should be more often but we forget/ don't have cash).

When she cashed out on Sunday, we realized that combined with her savings, she had enough for the American Girl doll she's been wanting.

We had to wait a few days, but we finally got over to the Grove.  With great pride she bought her doll.
 Pride of ownership!

So fun! Jenna is saving for the same thing but she keeps dipping into the savings for other things she wants (Brave toys . . . )
